How to Play Krillion

Krillion is a free daily trivia dive game. Every day, all players worldwide face the same 7 prompts and have roughly 15–20 seconds to type one answer per prompt. The twist: common answers float while rare answers sink — your score depends on how few people type the same word you do.

• 7 identical prompts per day, worldwide, same order.
• About 15–20 seconds per prompt; a blank or timed-out answer scores 0.
• 1 point = 10 metres of depth. 700 points = 7,000 m — the Trench Floor (Perfect Dive).
• The Daily Dive allows exactly 1 attempt per day; for unlimited practice rounds, check the Unlimited mode.

💡 There is no penalty for a mediocre answer — only for an invalid one. A safe 30-point word beats a rejected 0.

• Specific beats general: "Axolotl" sinks far deeper than "Dog".
• Typos sink dives: a misspelled word is rejected and scores 0.
• The 10-second rhythm: spend 10 seconds climbing past your first two ideas, lock in pick #3 or #4, then spell carefully.

Reading rules is one thing; playing is another. Here is the realistic shape of a first dive, so nothing about the flow surprises you. Prompt 1 appears with its category tag and a 15–20 second timer. You type one answer — anything that fits the category — and the game immediately shows where it landed: the tier name and the metres it sank. That instant feedback is the tutorial. By prompt 3 you will have seen a Plankton (10 points) or a Too Clever (15 points) land, and the instinct to climb one rung further starts forming on its own. Prompts 4–7 are where the rhythm settles: climb for the first half of the timer, commit, spell carefully, submit. When the seventh answer lands, the game totals your points, converts them to depth and drops you into an ocean zone — that zone is your daily result, and the whole worldwide player pool gets the same seven prompts to compare against.

• The tier reveal after each answer is information, not judgment — it teaches you what the crowd is typing today.
• Depth zones are the scoreboard: Sunlight (0–200 m) is the crowd, Midnight (1,000–4,000 m) is where disciplined ladders land.
• One attempt per prompt is final — but the whole dive resets tomorrow, so a bad day costs nothing but the day itself.

The game accepts answers through a curated word list per prompt, which is why validity and rarity are separate judgments. A word can be rare because nobody types it — or "rare" because nobody typed it because it is not on the list. Accepted lists are generous with proper nouns (cities, species, brands, characters) and strict about spelling: a one-letter typo is not a near-miss, it is a zero. When you are torn between a risky deep cut and a safe mid-tier word, the deciding question is not "is it rare" but "am I certain of every letter". A 60-point Rare you can spell beats a hypothetical 100 every time.

• Proper nouns are usually valid — named places, species, brands, fictional characters.
• Spelling is binary: accepted or zero. No partial credit, no suggestions.
• Category fit is checked: a valid word outside the prompt's category scores 0.
